Bill O’Donnell – Informed meeting of iTunes update. He gave those who used iTunes a disc with update.
Chris Griggs – No problems/questions

Lorna Mead – Asked how to email a short video? The video can be saved as a web format which will compress the video so it is a size small enough to be able to email.
Mick Devlin – Informed the meeting he had recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and had encountered only a few differences which he had to adjust for. He had to change the time zone from Canberra to Townsville. Mick has gone all wireless, with vodaphone, 6 gig, costing $39.95 per month on a 2 year contract. Mick informed the meeting that OfficeWorks sells Mac Key Boards.
Barry Bamford – Wanted to know how he could create a document with text down the middle and pictures with captions either side of the text. It was suggested that he could use a template in pages.
Betty McLellan – Informed the meeting she has published her new book “Unspeakable – a feminist ethic of speech”. It is available on line at http://www.feministagenda.org.au/otherwise.html
Betty was also concerned that she could not locate the formatting palettes in MS Word. Betty was shown how to go to
Betty also had a query regarding sending via email Pages page layouts which were large size documents. Shown how to create a page layout as a Word document by selecting
Rod Aisthorpe – No problems/questions
Nikki Bowler – Asked how to copy a DVD of a short movie? Response was need to use Toast.
Judy Leong – No problems/questions
Joe Leong – Asked how to compress 5 gig DVD. Mick said Handbrake was the application needed to do this.
Joe was having problems with his iPod not showing up as a device when plugged into his Mac Book. Bill thought it may be a cable problem or that ITunes needed up dating.
Subcommittee Report
At the Annual General meeting in December a subcommittee was formed to discus and explore options for aiding in the presentation at meetings and workshops. Mick has suggested purchasing a Mac Mini
The subcommittee reported back to the meeting and proposed NQMUG acquiring a 27” iMac.
A motion was put to the meeting that – the meeting authorise the purchase of a 27” iMac for use at meetings, workshops and NQMUG activities not exceeding the market price of $2199.000.
The motion was carried by unanimous vote by the 12 financial members present.
John and Bill to investigate the purchase.
PRESENTATION
Bill presented details of the new iPad which will be released in April. It will come in 6 options, 3 size capacities and 2 types of connectivity. He gave an outline of what it can do and how it does it.
